We are honored to announce that Dr. Alejandro Estrada, Senior Research Scientist and Head of the Laboratory of Primatology, Los Tuxtlas Field Research Station, member of the Faculty of the Instituo de Biologia, Universidad Nacional AutOnoma de Mexico, and founder and former President of the Mexican Primatological Society is the recipient of the MidWest Primate Interest Group 2008 Distinguished Primatologist Award.
We congratulate Dr. Estrada on receiving this prestigious award and for his important contributions to tropical ecology, primatology, and rainforest conservation. Dr. Estrada's Distinguished Primatologist presentation at MPIG was titled “"Social aspects of primate conservation: population, poverty, globalization and sustainable use of the land".
